He is risen indeed, alleluia!
My dear brothers and sisters,
A blessed Easter to you! We have just had the incredible joy of beginning our Easter celebrations which will continue through the Ascension of the Lord (May 9 this year and a holy day of obligation) and end with Pentecost Sunday (May 19). It is my hope that we will all participate fully in the Church’s rejoicing in the Risen Christ. We proclaim in the Preface for Easter at Mass, “By dying, he destroyed our death, and by rising, restored our life.” Through Jesus Christ, we have been rescued from death and offered eternal life with God. Alleluia!
What this means is that we, the People of God, the Church of God, the Body and Bride of Christ, now have an obligation to do as Christ commanded us after his Resurrection, “Go forth, teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” (Mt 28:19). Jesus Christ is the source of all our joy and so how could we not want to help other people to know him? How could we not want all nations to be baptized into his Resurrection and have the same hope we now enjoy? To refuse to speak about Jesus to others would be selfish. To preach Christ crucified and risen is the greatest act of charity. So, I beg you, my brothers and sisters, to preach Christ always, but especially between now and Pentecost. Wish a happy Easter to those you meet. When they give you a funny look around mid-May, you’ll have the chance to explain a bit about who Christ is and what he has done for them. When you spend your time helping a stranger and they ask you why, you can tell them it’s because Jesus is risen from the dead. Saint Paul asks in the Letter to the Romans, “But how can they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach?” (Rom 10:14).

Cristo ha resucitado, ¡aleluya!
¡En verdad ha resucitado, aleluya!
Mis queridos hermanos y hermanas,
¡Una bendita Pascua para ustedes! Acabamos de tener la increíble alegría de comenzar nuestras celebraciones de Pascua que continuarán hasta la Ascensión del Señor (9 de mayo de este año y un día santo de obligación) y terminarán con el Domingo de Pentecostés (19 de mayo). Tengo la esperanza de que todos participemos plenamente en el regocijo de la Iglesia en Cristo Resucitado. Proclamamos en el Prefacio de Pascua en la Misa: “Al morir, destruyó nuestra muerte, y al resucitar, restauró nuestra vida”. A través de Jesucristo, hemos sido rescatados de la muerte y se nos ha ofrecido vida eterna con Dios. ¡Aleluya!
Lo que esto significa es que nosotros, el Pueblo de Dios, la Iglesia de Dios, el Cuerpo y Esposa de Cristo, ahora tenemos la obligación de hacer lo que Cristo nos ordenó después de su Resurrección: “Id y enseñad a todas las naciones, bautizándolas en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo” (Mt 28,19). Jesucristo es la fuente de toda nuestra alegría y entonces, ¿cómo no querer ayudar a otras personas a conocerlo? ¿Cómo no querer que todas las naciones sean bautizadas en su Resurrección y tengan la misma esperanza que ahora disfrutamos? Negarse a hablar de Jesús a los demás sería egoísta. Predicar a Cristo crucificado y resucitado es el mayor acto de caridad. Por eso les ruego, hermanos míos, que prediquen a Cristo siempre, pero especialmente desde ahora hasta Pentecostés. Deseen una feliz Pascua a quienes conozcan. Cuando le den una mirada divertida a mediados de mayo, tendrán la oportunidad de explicarlen un poco quién es Cristo y qué ha hecho por ellos. Cuando pasan su tiempo ayudando a un extraño y te preguntan por qué, pueden decirle que es porque Jesús resucitó de entre los muertos. San Pablo pregunta en la Carta a los Romanos: “¿Pero cómo pueden invocar a aquel en quien no han creído? ¿Y cómo podrán creer en aquel de quien no han oído? ¿Y cómo pueden oír sin alguien que predique?” (Romanos 10:14).
