Updates on A/C and School | Actualizaciones sobre el aire acondicionado y la escuela

Dear parish family and friends,

Several weeks ago, I made an announcement at Mass about the status of the HVAC system at the historic church. Since then, several of you have asked me for a current update. Presently, the Buildings and Grounds Committee, which I re-constituted after arriving here, is working hard to keep things moving along. It was discovered last month that there were additional considerations that the original bids did not take into account, and so the committee has been in communication with these companies. For the cost of this project, we want to make sure that we’re getting exactly what we need. In a way, this is an application of the adage – “measure twice, cut once.” I’m grateful for those on this committee who are assisting with this and some other upcoming projects in the months ahead. I will provide a more detailed update when I have more info to share. 

In other real-world news, it’s back to school this week! For many this is a time of readjusting schedules and making new routines. May God bless all of our children, families, faculty and staff at our local schools as they return for a new academic year. In particular, I am so excited for a new school year here at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, and look forward to being part of the school family. I’m thankful for all that our principal, faculty and staff do for our school. Over the years, I have come to see how important our Catholic schools are in forming and educating our children in knowledge, faith, and virtue. I am grateful as well for our parents, who sacrifice to make a Catholic education possible for their children, and would like to encourage those of you with school-age children (or grandchildren) to consider sending them here to SFXCS as well.

Enjoy the final weeks of summer – I’m sure glad we have the Xavier Center for Masses with full air conditioning!

Estimados familiares y amigos de la parroquia:

Hace varias semanas, durante la misa, anuncié el estado del sistema de aire acondicionado y calefacción (HVAC) de la histórica iglesia. Desde entonces, varios de ustedes me han pedido información. Actualmente, el Comité de Edificios y Terrenos, que reconstituí tras mi llegada, trabaja arduamente para que todo siga avanzando. El mes pasado se descubrió que había consideraciones adicionales que las ofertas originales no consideraron, por lo que el comité ha estado en comunicación con estas empresas. Con respecto al costo de este proyecto, queremos asegurarnos de obtener exactamente lo que necesitamos. En cierto modo, esto aplica el dicho: "medir dos veces, cortar una". Agradezco a los miembros de este comité que están colaborando con este y otros proyectos futuros en los próximos meses. Les daré una actualización más detallada cuando tenga más información.

En otras noticias del mundo real, ¡esta semana volvemos a clases! Para muchos, este es un momento de reajustar horarios y crear nuevas rutinas. Que Dios bendiga a todos nuestros niños, familias, profesores y personal de nuestras escuelas locales al regresar para un nuevo año académico. En particular, estoy muy emocionado por el nuevo año escolar aquí en la Escuela Católica San Francisco Javier y espero formar parte de la familia escolar. Agradezco todo lo que nuestra directora, profesorado y personal hacen por nuestra escuela. Con los años, he llegado a comprender la importancia de nuestras escuelas católicas para formar y educar a nuestros niños en el conocimiento, la fe y la virtud. También estoy agradecido por nuestros padres, quienes se sacrifican para hacer posible la educación católica de sus hijos, y me gustaría animar a quienes tengan hijos en edad escolar (o nietos) a que consideren también enviarlos a SFXCS.

Disfruten las últimas semanas del verano. ¡Me alegra mucho que tengamos el Centro Xavier para Misas con aire acondicionado!
