Dear parish family and friends,
We are now in period between the Ascension and Pentecost. Do you know this period of 9 days of waiting and praying for Jesus (now ascended to the Father) to send the Holy Spirit was the first Novena? During these 9 days of prayer, the Apostles, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and those gathered with them were praying daily for the Consoler, the Paraclete, the Advocate to come. This is the model of daily prayer for us – perseverance.
Also, next week at the end of all Masses, I’ll be presenting Fatherly Fireside Chat 2.0. Just to give you a preview, I’ll be informing you about the following important aspects of our parish life:
1. Update on the Needs List – projects completed, and projects coming soon!
2. The financial standing of the school and the overall parish financial situation to date
3. Ongoing update on the parish registry
4. Update on the parish staff, with respect to the open positions
5. Finally, since arriving here nearly a year ago, I’ve had lots of questions floating through my head. And so, to get those questions out of my head, and into yours, we’re going to be conducting a brief Parish Family Survey, which will launch next weekend.
Here are some of the questions I’ll be asking about the future direction of our parish. What do you think of the bilingual Mass? What times would you prefer Confessions to be offered? What could be done to better accommodate people with various disabilities? Do we need to develop the Table Rock Road property further to enable our growth? And how?
You won’t want to miss this “fireside chat” next weekend. But, if you’ll be out of town, you’ll be able to read all about it in the bulletin.
Oh, and one more thing! Speaking of 2.0, Fr. Pray and I would like to invite you back to the rectory for another open house – to see all the amazing work our parishioners have done in HGTV’s newest show – “Rectory Rehab” – just kidding. But their hard work is no joke. Fr. Pray and I are so grateful for their generosity of time, treasure, and talent. And so, please join us on Friday, May 29, from 6 to 8 pm at 58 Pin Oak Ln, Gettysburg. No need to bring anything – just come to check it out.

Querida familia parroquial y amigos:
Nos encontramos ahora en el periodo entre la Ascensión y Pentecostés. ¿Sabían que este periodo de nueve días de espera y oración, pidiendo a Jesús (ya ascendido al Padre) que envie al Espíritu Santo, fue la primera Novena? Durante estos nueve días de oración, los Apóstoles, la Santísima Virgen María y quienes se hallaban reunidos con ellos rezaban a diario para que viniera el Consolador, el Paráclito, el Ayudante. Este es el modelo de oración diaria para nosotros - la perseverancia.
Asimismo, la próxima semana, despues de todas las Misas, presentaré la “Charlas del Padre 2.0”. Por darles un anticipo, les informaré sobre los siguientes aspectos importantes de nuestra vida parroquial:
1. Actualización sobre la “Lista de Necesidades”: ¡proyectos ya completados y proyectos que están por venir!
2. La situación financiera de la escuela y el estado financiero general de la parroquia hasta la fecha.
3. Actualización continua del registro parroquial.
4. Actualización sobre el personal de la parroquia, con respecto a las vacantes disponibles.
5. Por último, desde mi llegada aquí hace casi un año, he tenido muchas preguntas rondando por mi cabeza. Por ello, para sacar esas preguntas de mi mente y trasladarlas a la de ustedes, realizaremos una breve “Encuesta a la Familia Parroquial”, la cual se pondrá en marcha el próximo fin de semana.
Aquí tienen algunas de las preguntas que plantearé sobre el rumbo futuro de nuestra parroquia: ¿Qué opinan de la Misa bilingüe? ¿En qué horarios preferirían que se ofreciera el sacramento de la Confesión? ¿Qué podríamos hacer para atender mejor a las personas con diversas discapacidades? ¿Necesitamos desarrollar aún más la propiedad de Table Rock Road para facilitar nuestro crecimiento? ¿Y de qué manera?
No querrán perderse esta “Charla del Padre” el próximo fin de semana. No obstante, si se encuentran fuera de la ciudad, podrán leer todos los detalles en el boletín parroquial.
¡Ah, y una cosa más! Hablando de la versión 2.0: el Padre Pray y yo quisiéramos invitarlos nuevamente a la casa parroquial para otra jornada de puertas abiertas, con el fin de que vean todo el increíble trabajo que nuestros feligreses han realizado en el nuevo programa de HGTV: “Rectory Rehab” (Rehabilitación de la Casa Parroquial)... ¡es broma! Pero su arduo trabajo no es ninguna broma. El Padre Pray y yo estamos sumamente agradecidos por su generosidad en tiempo, bienes materiales y talentos. Así que, por favor, acompáñennos el viernes 29 de mayo, de 6:00 a 8:00 p. m., en 58 Pin Oak Ln, Gettysburg. No es necesario traer nada; simplemente vengan a echar un vistazo.
