This Lent, Follow Jesus | Esta Cuaresma, sigue a Jesús

Dear parish family and friends,
This coming Wednesday, February 18, is Ash Wednesday – the beginning of Lent. Over the past several years, one of the most helpful daily Lenten practices for me has been the use of the #Pray40 Challenge through the free Hallow App. I would like to highly recommend this to you.
This year, entitled Pray40 – the Return, we will be invited to join in on a journey back home to the Lord – no matter our sins, no matter our struggles, no matter how far we’ve strayed away. Just as we’ll see through the Parable of the Prodigal Son, we’re all farther away from God than we need to be…but the good news is God is always waiting for us with open arms, running out to us while we are still a long way off.
To really help bring the truths of this parable to life this Lent in Pray40, we’ll dive into the incredible book, The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky, considered one of the greatest novels of all time.
Pray40 is routinely the largest and most popular prayer challenge Hallow offers. In 2025, nearly two-million people joined Pray40, and Hallow was blessed to reach #2 in the App Store, behind only ChatGPT!

Also, please join us each Friday of Lent in the historic church at 7 pm for the bilingual Stations of the Cross, a devotion by which we prayerfully accompany Jesus in the final moments of His Passion and death for our salvation.
These are just two of the ways that we can take up our cross with Jesus and follow after Him this Lenten season so as to more fully share in the joyful celebration of His Resurrection in the Easter season to come.

El próximo miércoles 18 de febrero es Miércoles de Ceniza, el comienzo de la Cuaresma. Durante los últimos años, una de las prácticas cuaresmales diarias más útiles para mí ha sido el reto #Pray40 a través de la aplicación gratuita Hallow. Se lo recomiendo mucho.
Este año, titulado Pray40 – El Regreso, se nos invitará a unirnos a un viaje de regreso al Señor, sin importar nuestros pecados, sin importar nuestras dificultades, sin importar cuánto nos hayamos alejado. Tal como veremos en la parábola del hijo pródigo, todos estamos más lejos de Dios de lo que deberíamos estar… pero la buena noticia es que Dios siempre nos espera con los brazos abiertos, corriendo hacia nosotros mientras aún estamos lejos.
Para ayudar a dar vida a las verdades de esta parábola esta Cuaresma en Pray40, nos sumergiremos en el increíble libro "Los Hermanos Karamázov" de Fiódor Dostoyevski, considerado una de las mejores novelas de todos los tiempos. ¡Y está disponible en español!
