Parish Information Night on Financial Giving | Noche informativa parroquial sobre las contribuciones económicas

Dear parish family and friends,
Do you have a 401(k) or IRA? Do you have to make minimum distributions? Do you currently have a will, or is it something you've been meaning to get to? Do you have state income tax due and know how you can easily leverage it to help benefit school children?
I’d like to invite you and all interested parishioners to join me for a Parish Information Night on Financial Giving on this Thursday, March 19, from 6:30 to 8 pm at the Xavier Center to learn about some exciting opportunities.
First, St. Francis Xavier Parish has recently partnered with MyCatholicWill — the only FREE Catholic service to help you and your family take care of the most important part of estate planning. Come and learn about this totally free (and highly recommended) service. If so inclined, you're even able to remember our parish in your plans.
Also, there's a long-standing, simple program for individuals who owe Pennsylvania state income tax to direct those funds to benefit schools, such as St. Francis Xavier Catholic School. Called a Special Personal Entity (SPE), these scholarship tax credits are a not-so-complicated, win-win way for you to help our children. I have personally participated with an SPE for three years, and have found it a simple and rewarding way to support Catholic education.
And finally, for those who have 401(k)s, IRAs, and the like, we'd like to share with you about two charitable strategies known as Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) and Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs). Through these very easy processes, you’re able to make contributions from such accounts to our parish. Some parishioners have found this an easy way to make their weekly offerings via one larger contribution. Ralph Serpe, president and CEO of the Adams County Community Foundation, will present on this special topic.

¿Tienen un plan 401(k) o una cuenta de jubilación individual (IRA)? ¿Tienen que hacer distribuciones mínimas? ¿Tienen un testamento o lo han estado planeando? ¿Tienen impuestos estatales sobre la renta pendientes y saben cómo pueden aprovecharlos fácilmente para ayudar a los niños en edad escolar?
Me gustaría invitarlos a ustedes y a todos los feligreses interesados a que me acompañen a una Noche de Información Parroquial sobre Donaciones Financieras este jueves 19 de marzo, de 6:30 p. m. a 8 p. m., en el Centro Xavier para conocer algunas oportunidades interesantes.
Primero, la Parroquia de San Francisco Javier se ha asociado recientemente con MyCatholicWill, el único servicio católico GRATUITO para ayudarles a ustedes y a su familia a encargarse de la parte más importante de la planificación patrimonial. Vengan y conozcan este servicio totalmente gratuito (y muy recomendable). Si lo desean, incluso podrán incluir a nuestra parroquia en sus planes.
Además, existe un programa sencillo y de larga trayectoria para que las personas que adeudan impuestos estatales sobre la renta de Pensilvania dirijan esos fondos a escuelas, como la Escuela Católica St. Francis Xavier. Conocidas como Entidades Personales Especiales (SPE), estos créditos fiscales para becas son una manera sencilla y beneficiosa para todos de ayudar a nuestros hijos. He participado personalmente en una SPE durante tres años y me ha parecido una forma sencilla y gratificante de apoyar la educación católica.
Y finalmente, para quienes tienen planes 401(k), cuentas IRA y similares, nos gustaría compartir con ustedes dos estrategias de beneficencia conocidas como Distribuciones Mínimas Requeridas (RMD) y Distribuciones Caritativas Calificadas (QCD). A través de estos sencillos procesos, pueden realizar contribuciones desde dichas cuentas a nuestra parroquia. Algunos feligreses han encontrado que esta es una manera fácil de realizar sus ofrendas semanales mediante una sola contribución mayor. Ralph Serpe, presidente y director ejecutivo de la Fundación Comunitaria del Condado de Adams, presentará este tema especial.
