Give Thanks for Fathers | Da Gracias por los Padres

Dear SFX Parish Family,
As we gather this weekend to celebrate Fatherhood, it gave me a great opportunity to reflect on the beauty of this vocation, my priesthood, and father figures in my life.
Like so many of you, I have a wonderful father who has nourished, supported, and encouraged me throughout life. Over the years, we’ve spent time together in his woodshop bonding and creating things for our family, friends, and local parishes. Even if you never knew your father or did not have the best relationship with him, give thanks for the men in you life who served as a father figure to you.
When we gather to celebrate our fathers on this weekend, let us also give thanks to God the Father Almighty for his love, generosity, and steadfast care for us. All fatherhood flows from theGod the Father, especially his design for free will in our lives. He loves us so much that he wants us to choose him over ourselves every time; but He loves us so much that He makes it possible for us to not choose him.
Love is not a thing that can be coerced or forced. Real love and free will means even when we turn our backs on Him, he doesn’t turn his back on us. He welcomes us back to full communion with him every time we seek his grace in the confessional and through the reception of the Holy Eucharist. Hearing confessions and offering the holy sacrifice of the mass for each one of you at the parish is the best work I can do. I am thankful for each one of you and allowing me to be a spiritual father to you.
This week, say thank you to your earthly Father and as always, give thanks to God the Father for his abundant blessings!

Querida familia de SFX Parish,
Al reunirnos este fin de semana para celebrar la paternidad, me ha dado una gran oportunidad para reflexionar sobre la belleza de esta vocación, mi sacerdocio y las figuras paternas en mi vida.
Como muchos de ustedes, tengo un padre maravilloso que me ha nutrido, apoyado y animado a lo largo de toda mi vida. A lo largo de los años, hemos pasado tiempo juntos en su taller decarpintería creando lazos y creando cosas para nuestra familia, amigos y parroquias locales. Aunque nunca conocieras a tu padre o no tuvieras la mejor relación con él, da gracias por los hombres en tu vida que sirvieron de figura paterna para ti.
Cuando nos reunamos para celebrar a nuestros padres este fin de semana, demos también gracias a Dios el Padre Todopoderoso por su amor, generosidad y cuidado constante hacia nosotros.Toda paternidad fluye del Dios Padre, especialmente de su diseño de libre albedrío en nuestras vidas. Nos quiere tanto que quiere que le elijamos a él antes que a nosotros mismos cada vez; pero nos quiere tanto que hace posible que no le elijamos a él.
El amor no es algo que se pueda forzar. El amor verdadero y el libre albedrío significan que, incluso cuando le damos la espalda, Él no nos da la espalda. Nos da la bienvenida de nuevo a la plena comunión con él cada vez que buscamos su gracia en el confesionario y a través de conmulgar la Sagrada Eucaristía. Escuchar confesiones y ofrecer el santo sacrificio de la misa por cada uno de ustedes en la parroquia es el mejor trabajo que puedo hacer. Estoy agradecido por cada uno de ustedes y por permitirme ser un padre espiritual para todos.
Esta semana, da las gracias a tu Padre terrenal y, como sie mpre, da gracias a Dios Padre por susabundantes bendiciones.
