A Call to Metanoia | Un llamado a la metanoia

Dear Families and Friends of St. Francis Xavier Parish,

“The kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit”

Lord, we ask you to help us to repent of any unfruitfulness in our parish, in valuing anything over your direct and immediate call to go and make disciples, of being prepared to give reason for the hope that is in us, of welcoming foreigners and sinners into our midst as you gave us by your example.

“Once again, O LORD of hosts, look down from heaven, and see; take care of this vine, and protect what your right hand has planted,”

Lord, we ask you to soften any of our hardened hearts, wounded by the sins of others, especially wounded by priests and those claiming fidelity to you, and instead causing division, hatred, judgment, and abuse. Protect those who are vulnerable among us, whose faith is in danger, whose hope in your Church is tenuous, especially those who are being pulled away by the wiles of the enemy working in the secular world with harmful messages that lead away from your Church and away from you.

“Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Lord, turn our hearts to you and your goodness, your mercy, and your love. Help us to be instruments of your peace. Help us to be full of joy and gratitude, especially when receiving you in the Eucharist to make us more like you. Help us to be filled with your truth, given to us in the sacred scriptures and sacred teachings of your Church, to protect us from sin, to safeguard our goodness, and to foster our flourishing as your people, created in your image, and called to goodness in body, mind, and spirit.

Lord, unite the hearts and minds of your people in our parish, as you prayed that we might all be one. We ask this in your Holy Name. Amen.

Estimadas familias y amigos de la parroquia San Francisco Xavier,

“El reino de Dios les será quitado a ustedes y se le dará a un pueblo que produzca sus frutos”

Señor, te pedimos que nos ayudes a arrepentirnos de cualquier infructuosidad en nuestra parroquia, en valorar cualquier cosa por encima de tu llamado directo e inmediato a ir y hacer discípulos, a estar dispuestos a dar razón de la esperanza que hay en nosotros, a acoger a los extranjeros y pecadores entre nosotros como nos diste con tu ejemplo.

“Una vez más, oh SEÑOR de los ejércitos, vuelve y mira desde el cielo, fíjate; cuida esta vid y protege lo que plantó tu diestra”.

Señor, te pedimos que ablandes a cualquiera de nuestros corazones endurecidos, heridos por los pecados de los demás, especialmente heridos por los sacerdotes y aquellos que se dicen ser fieles a Ti, y que en cambio causan división, odio, juicio y abuso. Protege a aquellos que son vulnerables entre nosotros, cuya fe está en peligro, cuya esperanza en tu Iglesia es tenue, especialmente aquellos que están siendo alejados por las artimañas del enemigo que trabaja en el mundo secular con mensajes dañinos que los alejan de tu Iglesia y lejos de ti.

“Todo lo que es verdadero y noble, todo lo justo, todo lo puro, todo lo que es amable y honroso, y si hay alguna virtud y algo digno de alabanza, en estas cosas pensemos”.

Señor, vuelve nuestros corazones a ti y a tu bondad, a tu misericordia y a tu amor. Ayúdanos a ser instrumentos de tu paz. Ayúdanos a estar llenos de alegría y gratitud, especialmente al recibirte en la Eucaristía para hacernos más como tú. Ayúdanos a estar llenos de tu verdad, dada a nosotros en las sagradas escrituras y las sagradas enseñanzas de tu Iglesia, para protegernos del pecado, salvaguardar nuestra bondad y fomentar nuestro florecimiento como tu pueblo, creado a tu imagen y llamado al bien en cuerpo, mente y espíritu.
